The underground chamber was discovered exactly in the ruins of the great capital city of Chimu, Chan Chan, of which it is not widely known, and researchers seek to uncover the secrets it holds. From what little researchers know, the found sculptures may be about 800 years old.

Likewise, the researchers described the niches as humanoid figures with about 70 centimeters in height and each of the figures represents a different anthropomorphic character. Their masks are beige clay, and each one carries a scepter, with a circular object on the back that could represent a shield. They also found sculptors in high relief within the underground structure that measures about 33 meters (108.2 feet), which may reveal the true purpose with which they were used, which must be in the belief of these people with life after death ; for what the archaeologists also believe that they were used as guardians of the place, a place destined to sacred ceremonial rites of this culture.
