Frank Bainimarama

Commodore Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, popularly known as Frank Bainimarama, is commander of the armed forces of Fiji.
Bainimarama took power by armed track twice in the history of Fiji. The first as head of the interim military government of Fiji from May 29 to July 13, 2000, after organizing a counterattack to neutralize the coup previous state perpetrated by George Speight.
He supported the new president appointed Ratu Josefa Iloilo and was one of the main instruments on the rise the government of Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase, but his intense government policy to show clemency towards those involved in the coup critical weakening its relations with the regime, and December 5, 2006 overthrew the Qarase government and assumed the presidency announced that the government of Fiji interim basis, despite the January 4, 2007 returned the presidency to Josefa Iloilo. The next day Iloilo assigns as Prime Minister of Fiji, replacing Jona Senilagakali.
